If you where putting an eingine if to some thing and that engine didn't belong there. Would you first hook up the drive train/clutch and try it out?? Or would you go the whole nine yards and hook up all the stuff befroe you tried it out. I.E. hyds eletrical, etc.
Thanks

Hey Old,

I like to proove those things as I go. If something doesn't work quite as expected, and you have to go back and make changes, you've only got to undo what you just did. If you pile a few more systems on top of that, it gets to be like a domino effect, where you might have 2 or 3 or 4 things to change because the first thing didn't work quite right. Think I'd want the old girl bolted together, the clutch working properly and all that before I started too much else. The other stuff is... well..... comparatively easy to install, I would think. Once I get the basics nailed down like that, I often take the rest of it along together, mostly as an ease of assembly thing. Stuff that's hard to get at is done first, and the layers built on top..... Love to see the pictures when you're done. Best of luck.

Rod

Man, I all ways try some thing out as soon as I can. Some times like in electronis, that means things hanging out on wires. With an engne, It might be just tied in with bailing wire. Just my way.

whadda ya trying to do this to? anything can generaly be 'stuffed' into anything if you want to invest the time and money. big engines in small cars, large auto engines into farm machinery, etc. if you have a general idea of what you want, then go ahead and hookup all the drive train and muddle through the rest of it as it comes. anyone handy with common shop equipment and a welding machine can make it work, although the end result may not be perfect.

I'd hook it up first to see if it would work to satisfy my own curisoity first....then go the whole shebang....

If the engine will physically fit, and can be made to bolt up, even with adaptors, I would say you would be about 75% home.

Engine is in sort of, I still need to do a carrier bearing and hook up the clutch. I did set a battery in it today and turned it over just to make sure the drive wouldn't bind up on me. By the way this is that Cletrac HG that I'm putting an Oliver 60 engine in to. Should make a neat little toy/ATV

I helped to fire up the old man's 55 T-bird with him. He was stuck on the project and needed some inspiration. That lumpy idle and exhaust fumes seem to have done the trick. He has the mindset of putting it all together first. Basically stalled himself out. BTW, it is a 1955 Ford Thunderbird with a Windsor based 393 cid stroker and an AOD. Performer RPM power package with RPM heads. Gonna be on Power Tour this year.
