Here in eastern IA we don,t use this tpye of loader and only place I have seen them is in pictures or along the roads out west. What is the reason for the big wide frame that extends past the rear of tractor other than trying to transfer wieght to the rear? I can't see how this can help. But there has to be a reason or knowone would want one. They just look clumsey and awkward to me. Just wondering.

Hi Gary,

They were designed back in the days when farmers stacked their hay and made huge stacks of loose hay. Mostly used out here on the prairie.

They lift a whale of a lot of weight and they will lift it very high. Since I grew up on the darned things, anything else seems like a toy.

No, they aren't clumsy at all; after you accept the fact that the tractor lives inside the loader. :>)

Hi Allan I better learn that you spell yours with an a. My middle name is Allen.

Will those loaders lift a big round bale if so are they making a comeback in popularity?

Gary,

They play with big round bales. If I remember right, their capacity is right at 4,000 lbs.

Oh, doubt if they'll ever make any kind of a comeback. They are just too darned inconvenient for folks to mount on and off the tractor and people just don't need that height anymore.

IaGary;

The F-10 loader sorta ties up the tractor. We never had an F-10 on a tractor with power steering and only one of the tractors had ipto.
We used ours several times a week almost year round. Handling loose hay and loading cowpotty.
