Belarus 82.1...ever heard of such a thing?

There's a place near here that has a couple of these 4x4 Belarus tractors for sale. I haven't seen any others like these. The model is apparently an 82.1 . Even the hood decal is printed in Russian. I've heard all of the problems with this brand and that you have to be a mechanic to keep one going. That aside, these are cheap. In fact, they are new (new old stock from 98 or 99 so). I've seen lots of Belarus tractors at auctions over the years but never any like these. They are similar to a 500/900 but the color is different. Maybe they were intended for sale in some other country and just wound up here by accident. Has anyone here seen any of these?

from the look of the specs, the 82.1 sounds alot like my Belarus 820. It is a 75 horsepower tractor.

Most owners of these tractors say that they are quite dependable. The main problems are mostly oil leaks (Especially the hydralic system)

Parts availibly depends on how close you are to a dealer. Belarus.com and Belarus.ca supply lists of dealers across the US and Canada, so you can get them fairly easily.

Belarus tractors generally have no resale value, depending on the condition. With my 820, it looks like the previous owner paid more for the Loader on it then the tractor!

I received a reply from Alex, the guy in eastern europe that sells Belarus parts at a 50% discount. He says that the 82.1's were never officially exported. They are suppose to be a domestic model. There is a place here locally, actually a variety store that sells all kinds of closeouts, furniture & entertainment room stuff. In 1999 these tractors showed up for sale there. They had 3 originally but apparently sold one. The other two sat year after year. Finally a few days ago, they put them in a farm equipment auction. They brought $5,500. The owner turned it down. Later that day, some guy traded a new pickup truck to the two tractors and some sort of high end ZTR lawn mower. The new owner offered me one for $8000. He's a trader so I can probably trade him something for one of them. There's a variation in the hitches on the back. I'm thinking aout going for it.

Belarus are good tractors. Only problem with them is every one I've come across has been beat to death. They are real easy to work on. Every thing is componetized and can be interchanged accross several models even ones made up to 30 years ago. Cheap HP and hardly a throwaway tractor.

Try Tractor-Belarus.com. They show a picture of a Belarus 82.1 in a bright blue color. I don't know a thing about them and don't want to.
