Just a quick note to say thanks to all the great folks on this forum who took the time to offer "GOOD" suggestions and ideas on what to do in order to find the owner of this Chihuahua I found. To my surprise, we never received one phone call and we posted signs at the local RV parks, the animal shelter, the Vets office, local grocery, bakery and post office. We also have been watching the area for any lost dog signs as well as checking the lost and found section of the newspaper daily. As was suggested, the found signs I made did not include a picture of the dog. Somehow I'm sure some of you were correct in the fact that if I had included a picture, the phone would have been ringing off the hook. As it turns out, not finding the owner may be the best. The day I found the dog, my Dad brought my Mom over to see it. Mom has Alzheimer's and is in the mid to late stages of the disease. She just fell in love with the dog the minute she saw it, and Dad tells me she has asked about it every day wanting to know if she can have it. Dad agrees that he will see to it the dog is well taken care of (I know it will be), and when the time comes that Mom can't handle the dog any more he will return it to us. So today was the big day. I delivered the dog to her and I can tell you it's been a long time since I saw my Mom smile like she did when I walked in with that dog.
The dog has been following my wife everywhere the last few days, seems to prefer a woman so this hopefully will work out well. Might just be the best therapy Mom could ever get.
Thanks again to everyone, I just wanted to share what I feel is a happy ending.
George

Glad the animal has a good home and you just gave your mother the best possible medicane ever. I dont care what anyone says a cat or dog is the best medicane for the sick and elderly. My grandma had alzheimers and we brought one of the friendlier barn cats in trianed it and gave it to her was the happiest I had seen her in a long time, also honestly seemed to sharpen her mind she always knew and was asking about Tommy (the cat). The only problem was what to do with the cat when she passed away and we (wife and I took it in).

I think the dog found a good home. The happyness that it gives your Mother, is important in this time of her life. Stan

Now where are the nasayers now. That was meant to be or they don't call me Harley, I mean late for dinner. That is just wonderful. That little feller will give your mom a lot of comfort and somebody to take care of and be a mom for. It SURE WAS meant to be. Harley
