Can someone help me out with some questions on Case 2670"s and newer models like a 4690? Were there any downfalls on certain models with engine, transmissions, steering, etc.? Did the "powershift" typically hold up well? What big problems are there to look for on one of these? Seems like a 2670 is around $7-$8,000 around here and a 4690 is around $11-$12,000, wasn"t sure if this was good or not. Thanks for any info in advance.

Had a 2470 for quite a few years- major problem was the 504 engine- rod went through the side and got a bad overhaul next. I replaced it with an 855 Cummins- fantastic torque. Had to replace a couple wheel pivot bearings and one yoke. 70 series 2&4 wheel had a history of hydraulic pto starting up by itself- not good when you're cleaning out a field chopper!. 4690 would be a bit newer technology, prices are about like here. For cheap raw power, I'd go with a Versatile, Steiger, etc.- they use a lot of generic truck parts, and often come with the Cummins engine. Very dependable.
