I have a Ford 4400 and the loader will leak down with engine running or not. I have overhauled the control valve, new o-rings, check valves and it still leaks. I think that the spools are worn enough to let oil leak past, has anyone ever had a machine shop fix a valve like this or can they do it? I know that the cylinders are not leaking cause we have already checked them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Wait a minute here, the purpose of a check valve is to block flow in one direction. How did you check the cylinders? how was the valve checked? Is this a Ford valve or other manufacture?

Yes this is the original Ford valve and both the loader and the bucket leak down, but it will hold up the front of the tractor, but will not hold up it's own weight. I put a cut off valve in the hosr to the cylinder and raise it up and turn this valve off and the loader would stay up,also I would raise it up kill the tractor and take off the return line off of the valve and oil flowed out as the loader leaked down and when the loader hit the floor the oil stopped. Also I had a machine shop repack the tilt cylinders (so I know that it was done right)and they still leak. The check valves and the springs were replaced. Sorry for the long post. Help Thanks

I think you just answered some of your own question. If you took the return line off the loader with the loader up in the air and the loader leaked down the only place the oil came from is the loader cylinder(s).

Does both the loader and bucket leak off?

Just get another valve. You can get one for the cost of a machine shop looking at it if your sure thats the problem....
