Does anyone have a fix the sop that develops on the spline between the steering arm and the knuckle on a 4020? I have a fair amount on the right side only??? I would suppose the arm is the part that is worn but I'm not sure.

Jim

This may sound like a shade tree/redneck fix, but it worked for me. I cut small strips of metal from a tin can to fit in each of the grooves of the splines, put the arm back on, tightened it down and it has held for more than a year now and I use the tractor and loader to move/feed large round bales and move some dirt occasionally. May be worth a try.

I too bought a new arm from A&I and it tightened up. If your splines are too far gone it might not tighten up. They sell new spindles too. If you don't have any money you may get by with a shim cut from a tin can then fill the voids with JB weld and use your old arm.

I replaced the arm on a 4020 with a loader and a 4320 with a full rack of weights over a year ago with great success. No movement yet and they both get used heavily. chris I used the arms from A&I the aftermarket from Deere.
