Can I use (as a last resort) a little Hi-Tac to seal a leak from a little round gasket/ fiber washer on my Farmall H carb. or will the gas get to it. Is there something better to use to stop a slight leak? Thanks!!!

Thanks guys!!! I have been buying those washer in dealer stock packs!!! I took it apart and see a very very slight pit. I made a washer out of softer material and so far (1hr) it isn't leaking!!!

We use some stuff called Right Stuff by permatex. It is silicone, come is a can looks like a cheese wiz can.. I have used it to stop leaks by cleaning it good, and you can put in on the outside and it will stop a leak. Not the proper way to do it, but when you are faced with thousands to teat it down to fix compared to patching for 10.00, You make the choice.

Aloha, You could use Hi-tac but why don't you change the fiber washer? Is it leaking because the mating surfaces are not true? Sometimes you could use a gasket made from a different material to cure the problem but I would try to find out what is causing the leak to begin with.

John, Hi Tack is resistant to fuel but it just depends on where or what you are trying to seal. Sometimes if the casting is eroded away and a washer won't seal on it I build up the worn or pitted casting with JB weld and then file or grind it down so washer will seal good then. Either way you need to let them cure for 24 hours plus before letting fuel contact it again.
