I have this beautiful old manure spreader that I cant use,I think all I need is an pawl spring.Nobody can seem to tell me what make it is.Only ID on it is a metal tag with #277 on the right front(wheel driven).Whats worse, Im a man of fairly decent computer skills,Ive changed ,reformatted hard drives, destroyed viruses, etc, etc. But for the life of me I cant post a pic to this site.I have a whole folder of sites on how to do this, but with no results. Was told its a New Idea or a McCormick. But the #277 doesnt match any parts list.
Please Help,the piles gettin high.
Thanks Stan

Would it be a 4 wheel orignaly on steel, that no. if a New Idea could be a lot number. If you can give the wheel size and type and width and length of box, if flair sides to box and if wide spread is individual blades or a spirol and if beater bars are an angle iron or u shaped bar we may be able to come up with a model

I know the problem with pictures on this site.

Resample the picture to 470 pixels wide. That will get it under the 1/2 meg limit. Save it as a jpeg. Open up Parts and Pieces or whatever from the menu. Upload the picture there from your computer.

Then open the picture from Parts and Pieces, copy the URL as it appears and drop the whole thing into the top square I currently see below: Optional Link URL. Make up a title and type it into Link Title. Preview. Submit.

That's it.

There are fancier ways, but I'm a teacher, not a techie.

Go to McMaster-Carr online. Good selection and reasonably priced

Can't figure out what kind it is? That really doesn't matter, if its just a pawl spring you need. Just take a measurement, go to a good hardware store, and get a spring. I've seen everything from screendoor springs to pieces of inner tube used for that purpose, and it doesn't have to be a precision fit or a certain tension- about anything will work. If you're going to work with the old stuff, you soon get accustomed to "making do"- because "genuine" parts are very seldom available anyhow.

On the left side of this page, under galleries, click on implement photos. You can then upload directly from your PC into implement photos. You cannot upload a photo directly into any of these forums, the photo has to be located somewhere on the web before you can post it in a forum. You can also upload directly to a site such as photobucket, and then drag it in here.

Have you asked the fine folks over at redpowermagazine about it? They have a very good picture posting program. Just like this site, there is a priceless amount of information over there.
