I have recently purchased a '70's vintage MRS A- 90 wheel tractor with a Cummins 175C engine. Near the steering wheel is a canister looking item labeled "Pressure Primer Discharger". It has a hard pipe/line running to the intake manifold. What is this? Sometype of cold starting device? The engine also appears to have 2 injectors per cylinder. One set is piped to the IP and the other to ..... . a return line? Definetly not glow plugs. Anyone have any info on this tractor/engine that could help me out?

Thanks,
Lance

That canister thing is an early style of cold start aid. Depending on the design you'd stick a can or a capsule of ether into it. Then by actuating a valve it would inject a measured shot of ether into the intake during cranking.

Those are not injectors you see on the side of the head. Rather they are inlet and outlet fittings for the fuel injectors. The injectors themselves are located beneath the rocker covers. There's only one injector per cylinder.
