I don't know the model of my ditch witch, but it is old old old. iIt has a 4 foot bar and is on tracks,it has a one cyl wisconsin engine model AGND. My engine has a crankcase breather tube that runs from around the tappet cover to the air filter. If that tube is blocked it will blow oil out the oil filler. My engine is so worn out I had to disconnect the breather tube because it was blowing so much oil into the air intake it would smoke bad and foul the spark plug.

The breather I have comes from the engine to a long tube and round cover that you put oil from.

First guess would be the crankcase ventilation system, as the engine warms up the air inside the engine will expand, and there has to be someplace for this hot air to go. If the system is plugged up or otherwise blocked, the hot air will try to escape wherever it can, usually through the oil fill cap, and it often will push motor oil ahead of it. Don't know if your engine has a closed vent system or an open system but both of these can become blocked.

Hello all the numbers you gave show it is 30 hp air cooled wisconsin engine, now to oil leak on the side that has distributor or mag and oil filter the oil fill tube where the oil goes into the engine block it is a metal tube thin wall it is a push fit to engine block if it is loose in block the the engine block pressure will force oil out and leak badly if this is problem pull tube and enlarge the od very small bit re insert. try this first if it dont stop oil leak then let me know and we will go to another remedy,by the way do you know of any individuals that may have parts for the 2300 . THANKS.

You are correct I posted some photos to make sure. The tube does not fit good but the leake is from the top at the cap side. I pulled it out and checked it and put it back and restart but the oil still shoot from the top...

Next take bottom off air cleaner remove the filter element crank it up if it still leaks replace element.Next check the engine timing it should be looking at front of engine the left hand bank is 1 and 3 the right bank 2 and 4 the wires should be hooked 1342 if all is well .Next pull all spark plugs and put thumb on hole one at a time if a hole is burned in piston or if piston is cracked when engine fires on that cylinder it puts pressure in crankcase if any piston has hole in it or is cracked that cylinder has no compression you can turn with engine starterto use this test

I will go today and do this check...someone mentioned that every engine has a breather place...does this one has one and where is it?
oh during my inspection yesterday for the numbers I found out that a wire was pushed between (cut out) behaind the starter, the wire was preventing the cut out from closeing so I moved it away...do you know what that cut out for? It is on the right side looking from the front.
