I need to tap someones knowledge of woods mowers. Question: If I purchase an L59 from a 1967 cub, and want to put it on my 1974 Farmall 140; I should only need to purchase the drive and bracket kit from Woods. Is this correct? Are all these L59 decks the same, and the only real difference is the mounting and drive hardware used on the different tractors? Thanks to the forum,
Randy Drago

I have an L59 mounted on a super A The spindles
have left hand threads on the bolts to hold the blades on. The blades are available to cut either way I know because the first time I replaced them I got the ones for the wrong rotation. The center
spindle has a three sheave pulley the two outside
have asingle. The pulley on the tractor mounts in place of the flat belt pulley you will need that too
Check the photos at left for mounting brackets, or Ebay pictures they usually have a rear view that shows the mounting. Mine runs with a single lonnng
belt thats been on it for over ten years,

WRONG
cub pto turns same direction as motor. spindles are threaded for this, blades are designed for this.
140 pto turns opposite direction of motor as do most tractors, spindles threaded for this and blades designed for this.

NOW if you insist on doing this then you need to cross the belt and put a twist in it. It then will eat all belts except for WOODS which will have a shorter life then normal.

I run a WOODS mower from a Kubota on a cub. Had to cross the belt and it eats belts. Price was good enough to be able to do this.

This mower is for sale as I finally found the right mower for a cub at the right price. Central Ohio $200

Good luck
Ron

on www.woodsonline.com they show a model C360 that is Cub only. It uses the gearbox type drive. I believe all L59 decks are the same, but the mounting brackets are different for each tractor. I"m not sure what the mounting bracket costs, but I"m sure it ain"t cheap. I almost bought an L59 setup off an Allis B, but the mounting bracket was not quite wide enough for my Farmall A. ....Stan

That still comes to having the correct mounting kit and drive parts for the aplication. I don't have my books here but I wll look it up monday when I go back to work.

You might want to check because I've seen some that require crossing the belt to get the correct rotation. any Woods dealer should be able to get that information for you.

I can see what you're saying about the possiblity of it turning the wrong way. I'm not sure but do all L59's turn the same direction? I know the "L" stands for left discharge.

The deck probably can be run either direction with the proper blades. We have a 59 on a B Farmall and when I think about the design I can't think of anything that would prevent it. Jim

Hey randy, I've got an L59 on my AC-B and it's discharge is rear and center with baffles to seperate the 3 blades and guide to the rear discharge. I'd like to think that the decks are the same, the mounts are different. I could be wrong on different decks. Wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong though, nor the last.
