My brother in law is looking at a '96 Chev 3/4 ton 4x4 with the 454 engine. I would imagine it has the 4:10 rear end and he was wondering what to expect for mileage, he pulls a 20 ft. cattle trailer, but not to often. Thanks in advance.

I've got a '95 Chevy 3/4 ton extended cab, 8-foot bed, 4x4 with an automatic and 454. With no load or trailer it consistently gets 12 mpg. With a load, slightly less.

BTW, it's a great truck. It's pulled everything that i've thrown at it. Only minor problems. But then, it's got less than 100K miles on it so far.

I have a 1986 3/4 ton Chevy, heavy duty, 350, 4 speed, 4:10 rear end. Plenty of power with 10000# payload on trailer. 10MPG with out trailer.

I have a 1997 GMC dually. Average overall is about 10 MPG. Serious pulling (17,000#)6 to 8 MPG. Cruising at 65 12 MPG. There is no substitute for the power that engine makes unless you go diesel or move up to the 8.1 liter with the Allison transmission.

As low as 8, and as high as 14. Most of the time right around 9 to 10.
