My unit lost it's first soldier after being too lucky for too long. 20 years old and 2 weeks from coming home, he was amoung 7 Iowans supporting a Mississippi IN BDE in Iraq. Hand-picked as part of the commander's security detachment and serving as the gunner on an up-armored Humvee, he was exposed to a 155mm artillery shell IED blast the day after Thanksgiving. This is my first shot at posting a link, hope it works, thanks all.

Dave, I am so sorry about your friend, it sounds like he was a true Anerican Heroe. You all are in my prayers, and I think you for serving our country. Sp/5 Jimmy C. King MO Army National Guard, 1959 to 1965.

We are praying for everyone over there. I heard about this heartbreaking story as I am from Iowa. Pray for all of those soldiers over there. Just stop, once a day, and pray, thats all you have to do, Thanks and God Bless

There are no words to express your loss, and the loss to this soldier's family. God bless you all, and thank you, and all our soldiers, sailors, air force, and marines, for the service to our nation. Jon

I'm not over there, Harley, but thanks anyway. Our unit got called up for a year of stateside duty post-911. Since then a heartwarming (& heartbreaking) number of our soldiers have volunteered to roundout other unit's deployments. Some are on they're 3rd tour. This is happening frequently acrossed the country. Those who think our young don't have what it takes to be the next "Great Generation" are wrong. It's the rest of the country wrapping their hearts and minds around a cause despite what's-in-it-for-them and what the TV says. I'll pray for your boy and tell him thanks.
