Does anyone know of a good reference that describes details of how to use implements, when a particular implement is good or bad, etc?

Thanks!

What do you want to do with your tractor? That will determine old or new, big or small...Take a look at the "Todays Tractors" column on the left sidebar for talk about new rigs.
Very helpful people in both sites.

Buy from an established dealer with parts and service is the safest way. If you are looking to buy used, buy from someone who has a good reputation and experiace with the equipment he is selling. A good example would be buy from someone like "Nebraska Cowman" who like others on this forum is familiar with the equipment and their uses. Don't mean to single anyone out on this forum, but he does have a good reputation.
Good Luck,

Rex

Wow, thanks for the quick replies.

First off, I am looking to purchase a used tractor in the Washington state area. I notice a number of "importers" importing used Japanese tractors as well as selling new Chinese products.

Does anyone know of the reputations of any of these folks?

I have also seen numerous tractors listed on Craig"s List with seemingly low hours and only a few years old.

What kinds of pitfalls and observations must be made when purchasing used?

Thanks!

Best to leave the imports alone, especially those Chinese imports. There is a reason you can buy them cheaper, and it will be very expensive for you to find out why they are cheaper. If you are thinking about foreign tractors, think Kubota or Mahindra, both of those are built quite well and have excellent reputations.
