Which manufacturer and what year was the last gasoline powered full size farm tractor made. I think it was the International 140 in 1984.

I believe that the last gas farm tractor built was the White 2-70,(70 hp) available until 1982. JD 4030, with 80 hp, was built until 1977. Last IH was 86 Hydro, built to 1981, had 70 hp.

Ed: The last 140 was built in 1979. I'd be surprised if there aren't a few gassers being built, today, by someone.

The latest gas tractor I've seen up close and personal was my brother's 1990 Ford 3910 but I'm told that there were also some 3930 gassers produced. I've seen 4610 gas tractors; Hot Line tractor blue book lists them available thru 1990. I think most dealers didn't stock gas tractors after the 70's but people could and sometimes did order them.

Not sure...but a 4240 JD would have to be right in there!

Thought there was just a handful of 4230's made as gassers as the last JD's.That would be the 1972 to 1974 model years. I'm not certain about the Dubuque/Mannheim utility tractors for the last gasser. Lots of 20 series but getting scarce in the 30 series. A couple of months ago some "brainwave" was posting a question in the JD area. He wanted to know how to replce the gas engine in his 4230 with a diesel. He had no clue to the collector value. Just about as bright as those who take a rare PS LP console 4020 and convert them to diesel. Rumour has it there was even a front wheel drive assist LP or two made with PS.

Glad to know that common sense does prevail on occasion.

I think this is a tough question as I think it depends on what you clasify as "full-size". I don't consider a 140 full sized. To me, that is garden sized.

Good luck with your quest.

I was attempting to exclude lawn tractors such as those powered by Briggs, Kohler etc. which are available today. We use 140's to cultivate 40 acres of tobacco so to us they are real tractors.

Wish I had a nickel for every hour on a Hundred and Forty. NOTHING sounds better than speeding up after hitting 4 th gear.

I understand that. Things have changed a lot up here. Small farmers farm 1000 acres. The neighbor used to use an Allis B to plow his 2 quarters, now an Allis B is barely big enough for a lawn mower.
