OK Chris, this is what you do. Go to your local pet store and pick up a bottle of "Bitter Apple" spray. Spray the items you do not want your dog to chew liberally (make sure it is color safe for fabric). If your dog still persists in chewing your couch, and some will until they really get a taste of the bitter apple, then you may need to spray a couple of squirts right in his mouth, just to convince him he doesn't want to chew anything treated with this solution. He'll act like he has gone rabid; he will foam and slober and do his best to get the taste out out of his mouth. This spray is not harmful to dogs, but it sure is bitter. If he persists, you may need to repeat. He'll catch on. Give him huge praise when he picks a toy or bone to chew on instead of the couch, and instantly admonish his the moment his little teeth touch the couch. You cannot wait until after the action is done. You MUST correct while the unwanted action is taking place. Otherwise, you just ruin a good dog.

Aloha, I have two pups now and they are chewing everything in sight. They chewed thru wires, rope, most of my plants, tarp, wood, etc. Chili pepper will not work and I have tried everything. The only thing you can do is to give them something to chew on but be sure to have a lot. After they stop teething, the chewing should stop.

Mahalo,

You probably already know this but the chewing is natural for a pup. I don't know how you'd do a couch but I've always had good luck on other things by giving them a good sprinkling of ceyanne pepper. Good luck.

Well if he really is a pit or a part pit, then guess what they do that and don't care what they chew. One of my part pits got the remote today for the srround system and its now just a fancy looking thing that doesn't work. Only thing I can say that helps is bones lots and lots of bones.

There is a spray that dog's don't like, or rub some hot pepper on the place the dog chewes. We had a dog that chewed everything left on the floor. Lost a lot of good shoes. The dog finally grew out of it. Stan
