My daughter"s car will go into fast idle every once in a while. Last time it happened she said she was setting at idle and it just ran up to 2500 rpm. Any ideas?

Does it have a throttle positioning sensor?
Good place to start.

tlak,

I've never owned a Honda, so you can tell that my advice isn't worth much. However, I do know that surging engine speed is often caused by a vacuum leak. Often, a cracked hose will open and close intermittently causing the engine speed to vary up and down. I'm not sure if a vacuum leak would cause an engine to surge up to 2500 RPM, but that's stil the first thing I'd look for.

Good luck,

Tom in TN
