I have a farmall 656 gas, i put new spark plugs in her and a new battery, she wont start, i took the site glass thats under the tank off and turned the gas line on and gas flowed really well, however, when i put the glass cup back on and tighten the bottom so it does not leak, then turn the gas line on, it barely drips any gas at all...the gasket and everything looks fine, i cant figure out why when i tighten the glass it shuts the gas flow down and how to fix it....if anyone can help me that would be awsome
Thanks Bill

When you put the sediment bowl back on like you did and the carb is full of gas or the needle its stuck closed that it what will happen, it normal. To make sure you are getting gas pull the drain plug from the bottom of the carb, if the sediment bowl doesn't fill then you have problems. If you have problems it could be a stuck float, clogged fuel lines or clogged fuel filters.

All that this means is that the carb is full and you have no leaks this is a good thing , Now if it will not start then two things come to mind , One is you are not getting any spark or two the fuel shutoff selinoid is not working and no gas is going thru the main jet . With out tryen to start the tractor stand next to the carb and turn the key on or if ya got short arms have someone do it for ya and if ya hear a click then that is working go back to the dist and see if ya got spark there .

bcook.

Remove gas line at carburater and check gas flow there. There mabe a screen in the fitting to the carb.that could be plugged. REmove the drain plug from the carb and see if you get good flow there. That should clear your line and let the glass fill ok.

I have a 666 gasser that did that. A couple times I found the screen at the fuel inlet elbow on the carb plugged, but finally found the real problem, found a cap from a gas line antifreeze bottle in the fuel tank, right over the outlet. FIL finally admitted he had dropped it in there when fuelling it last winter.
