I like the Kubota M105X 16 speed powershift transmission better than the 6420 Deere power-quad,the 25GPM hydr.pump is better on the Deere than the 18Gpm on Kubota.I know resale will be better on JD but $13,000 is alot of difference.
The price was tractor and SL loader package.

You have to compare the 6420 to get close to the 105X tractor, the 105S (which is $5,000 cheaper than the 105X)is comparable to the ones mentioned,Advantage over the Deere includes 4wheel differental lock,4wheel braking system, the 16 speed transmission will shift 8 times w/o using clutch, more ground clearence than 6420,tighter turning radius in bi-speed mode,3yr. warranty on drivetrain.

Get you head out of your *ss for one thing. If you are so convinced why are you bothering to tell us?
The Deere doesn't need four wheel diff lock. The front axle has a limited slip diff built into it.
Are you not able to count the number of transmission options? in just the economy 6615 alone? There are four and they have the optional creeper and power reverser. Number of gear selections vary from 12,21,24,28 and 36. Some of the transmissions will shift through the entire range without using the clutch even once. This would be a great advantage for you not having to co-ordinate your hands and feet.
Which tires are you comparing for ground clearance? Are you talking axle clearance or drawbar clearance? Are you farming cotton or something where you need a high crop tractor? What kind of clutch is in that Kubota?
The Deere has four wheel braking when ever the 4WD is engaged. A 16.1 ft turning radius without using the brakes. You want or need tighter than that?
Warrenty? That coverage isn't going to matter after the 3rd year; most tractors are kept for 10-20 years. If something is going to break it's within a few hours of being new anyways.

Buickanddeere, have you owned a newer Kubota lately? I have, three of them, and also have had three new deere's. This has all been within the last 5 years, 70hp and down. Maybe before die hard deere fans shoot off their mouth they ought to try something different. I used to be one of you die hard deere guys, deere was best and everything else was crap. but after a while you have to take the green blinders off and realize there is more out there than mother deere.

Isn't there a Kobubu site where you jackasses can go palaver instead of bringing it to Yesterdays Tractors?

Listen...why should the Kubota guys go away? There is a "Todays Tractors" section for all of this. But...
Having sold both brands, and speaking only of the UNDER 100 HP tractors (NO profit at all in selling the big stuff to farmers compared to the margins made under 100HP) The Kubotas are model for model, system for system, part for part superior to the YanMar built Deeres. The owner of the Kubota dealership I used to work for used to buy a new Deere compact and a New New Holland compact for demo purposes...our life was simple! We encouraged people to run 'em drive 'em mount implements...then we pointed out a few things like cast aluminum frames and housings on the Johns...let folks draw their own conclusion and owned approx. 80% of the compact tractor sales in our territory.
I Love old tractors...Deere included, we have several that are or will be restored and used for menial chores, pulling, plow days, parading and showing. I grew up on a JD B, a Farmall Super C, then worked a realtives farm with 4020s and 4430s, so I am not a single color guy, but when buying a new compact, an open mind will allow you to see beyond color...quality for the $ is the bottom line. Pete

I am curious which JD"s had/have "aluminum frames/castings" unless you are talking lawn tractors, in which case I agree my JD GT262 has alum transaxle housing as did GT242. We owned a Yanmar- built JD 950 from 1979 to 2000 which was traded on JD 5105 , no aluminum castings/ frames on either of those.

Apples to apples here buddy. Your post sounds a lot like a cheap bait shot to try and ruffle some feathers and get a flame war going. That Kubota is comparable to the much cheaper Deere 6403,6415 or 6615, not the premium 6420. What are you running with the hydraulics that you can even see the difference between 18 and 25 gpm?

Kubota's seem to me to be a good tractor, and mabey the M105X will do what you need it to..... However, compare apples to apples, not oranges. I'd bet that in the spec department the Deere will outweigh the Kubota by more than a ton, will pump more oil, and will lift a good deal more on the 3-point. Putting a turbo on a 70 hp spec tractor and calling it 90 hp doesn't make it a 90 hp tractor, it makes it a 70 hp tractor with a 90 hp engine..... . That will work for many utility type jobs just fine, and the tractor will stand up well, provided it's used for what it was intended. Mount a 4 or 5 bottom plow on the back and put it to work, and then you'll find out why the Deere costs $13000 more. That said, I wouldn't hesitate at the Kubota if it fitted my needs. For what it's worth.....

I'd get the Kubota. Right now, as far as price goes looks to me like the Agco Challengers are the way to go. Local Cat store is really pushing them, pricing them to sell.

Kubota has a model M105S that is priced less than their M105X. Same power, 17.2 gpm. 7490 max lift cap vs 9447. About 460# lighter. You know your tractor requirements better than anyone but your question caught my attention because that's about the same size I'm looking at. M105S with cab, cast wheels and loader runs $45,000+ around here.

I have owned a couple new Deere's and a couple new Kubota's in the last 5 or so years, and I'll say this. Kubota all the way! They are every bit as good a tractor as the Deere, in some cases better. And after you figur in the money the Kubota is the only logical choice. I am sure I might get crucified for saying these things, but ater having 3 new deere's and 3 new Kubota's the I give the nod to Kubota.

If you think the resale is going to be so bad on the Kubota why don't you price a used one. You'll be surprised. 20 years from now there may be an advantage on the Deere but it won't approach the 13 grand in original cost. I would also look at the warranties real close as I think the Kubota will have the better. Good luck.

$13k is alot of money but like you said resale. It is kinda of like a Toyota Tundra vs. the big razmataz GMC diesel with all the options. The GMC might cost more but in the long run the resale holds better. (I dont know how good the resales really are on the Tundra's) by the way.
