I've completely broken down my 8N. I'm not sure what the right approach is to remove the piston from the cylinder. The piston is far back in the cylinder. Please advise.

Dell is right about the removal process. Once it's out, you can also take it to a good hydraulic repair/machine shop and they can turn one of the grooves to take a new o-ring and backup washer. Be sure you use the old rings in whatever groove(s) are left.

Eurlith..... ....sucks when you findout yer 3-point pistons "dog-bone" ain't attached to the piston and you want to remove it, don't it? Most use "shop-air" with a rubber-cone to blow/pressureize the hydraulic hole in the topplate that feeds the 3-point piston. WATCHOUT!!!! you don't LAUNCH yer piston across the shop with a shot of air! Cover/block yer hydraulic cylinder/piston exit with rag or sumptin.

Most replace the 8N's 3-ring piston with the IMPROVED NAA "O-ring" piston..... .Dell
