I posted some photos in the photo and "help identify" sections. My lawn tractor is a 1975
Simplicity 7016/ Allis Chalmers 716H:

There is a plug and fuse on the right hand side of the tractor. I have no idea what these are. I looked in the operators manual as well as in the parts manual and can not find them. Can anyone help out?

Thanks in advance,
Erik

Aloha, Would it be possible to trace the wires from the receptacle back??

Yeah, i took the battery out and the wires are disconnected. One black one red presumably to connect to the battery posts. So yes, it apparently was for some accessory, but I know not what. They look factory installed versus some handyman special...I guess I will just leave it unused, but the curiosity about what was running out of there is killing me. :)

Thanks,
Erik

Aloha, Maybe it was used to charge the battery from a battery charger.

I would bet that there once was a snow cab and this might have been used to supply power to the lights and wipers.

ahh, I hadn't thought of that. Too bad the snow cap didn't come with my purchase! Thanks for the FYI.

Erik

in the photo it looks like it says 15amp 125 volt on the plug, if so then it is probably a homeowner installation to give a power source to a separate electrical device of some sort fuse may or may not be connected to the plug.

Pull out the fuse and see what doesn't work.

:) yeah, I tried that. The problem is that there is so much that doesn't work that it does not help narrow it down. :)

Basically, the tractor is a "runner". It runs great, but none of the 'extras' work. I bought it like that a few years ago and have finally decided to go through it and restore some of the functionality.

Thanks though.

Could it be a plug for an eletric weed eater. Years ago i saw a rider that was equipped with a weed eater that you drove around after mowing and weed eated.
