Hey everyone. I just had some quick questions. I'm looking for a tractor around 100 hp. I dont have a lot of cash right now so ive been looking at some older models. I need some advice. My main concerns are reliability and fuel consumption. I have no problems with color (had good experiences with both green and red haha.) Some models ive been looking at are IH 856, JD 4020 or 4320, AC 200, Ford 8000, Oliver 1855 or 1955, Massey 1105 and Case 1070. Any comment or helpful info on these or any other models would be greatly appreciated. Have a good one fellas.

All good tractors. Which one can you get parts for locally?

Parts really arent an issue. got plenty of dealerships within 15 or 20 minutes. What are the differences between the 1850 and 1855 aside from production year? Ive heard alot of good things about the perkins 354. Does the 1855 come with this as well?

We have an Oliver 1850 that is very good on fuel. The Perkins 354 is a good engine. Oliver rated them at 92 hp. but an old Oliver dealer told me they never had one dyno less than 105 hp. Parts are easy to get, lots of boneyards too.

They're all good, just find whichever one is the best deal and go. The Ford 8000/9000 and Case 1070 Agri-King are kind of unsung heroes, great tractors, except that the Case powershifts have a reputation of blowing. IH a solid performer, lots of them out there. Deere is as good as it gets, very solid but might be pricey. Massey: can't beat that Perkins 354. AC 200: improvement on the already great OneNinety but the 220 if you can find one is better. Can't go wrong with an Oliver, especially an 1850 with the Perkins 354. You might also look at a White 2-85 or 2-105, these also have the 354, the 2-105 has a turbo, and they both are very tough and well built and as they are kind of unsing heroes, you can find good deals on them.

Stay away from a powershift 1070. I would lean towards the IH 856, very economical to run. Or the JD 4020.
