Today in Des Moines, Iowa, a tanker truck hauling 7,500 gal. of diesel fuel rolled while on an exit ramp in the East mixmaster of I35/I80. The driver was my dad. He"s alive, thanks to a couple nurses a few cars behind him. He is in critical condition, he is on a ventilator for tonight, and they more/less paralyzed w/ some drugs to let his body rest. If he was hauling gasoline, we"d be planning a funural. Even though I don"t get along well with the old man, I"m asking for a few prayers tonight. Thank you, Rich

I just noticed the part about you and your Dad not "getting along", ,don't wait until he is dead to try and get along with him if it's at all possible try and do it before, have had a lot of guy's I work with that didn't get along with thier "dad's" and never made up until it was too late, I am getting older and try to spend as much time as I can with my Dad now because I know there really isin't going to be that much time to be around him and want to spend as much time as I can, people don't live forever now, my Dad is okay but at the age where anything can happen, I can just make up a dumb excuse for us to go and haul a load some place for somethig to do.

My prayers are with your Dad, my Dad hauled propane for over 40 years, all it takes is one mess, and you are not usually the one to make that decision, best wishes to your dad and the family, I think we are all hoping for the best for you all.
Kevin

Rich, I am a Patrolman and was working when the accident happened. I never made it over to the scene as we had our hands full with rubber neckers crashing into each other after the initial accident. I'm glad to hear your dad made it. Heard they moved him from Methodist over to Iowa City now? We'll keep him in our prayers.

Hope your dad gets better real soon. It's tough seeing somebody you care about on the ventilator. Sending prayers your way.

Thanks for all the prayers folks. I"m running in this morning to see how he"s doing, and relieve my brother who had night duty. Thanks to nurses like Ms. Grundy, he"s still here. I still don"t know exactlly what happened, got home too late to hear the news. I"ll give an update as soon as we find out what happening. Many thanks, Rich
