I have a john deere 620 gas that i am going to re-paint.Just today I moved it from one side of the shop to the other and it just stopped running.I noticed that the rpm gauge cable is broken.I heard that this might be the cause?Any ideas???

If the tractor continues to have no spark after checking the points & plugs, check in the dash area for a ceramic resister. With a test light, turn on ignition switch and check for power into & out of the resister.

See if the tractor has spark at the plugs. If no, pull off the distributor cap and check the points. Look for discolored contacts on the points. sand or file contacts so they're shiny silver , and regap them to specs. There's lots of places to check for problems , but try this first.
