Been down in the shop today trying to get a motor started. About the time I think I have it figured out, the darn thing just sits there. It is a 3.5 hp Briggs I am putting on a portable blender to mix my toddies on the go, and can any of you guys tell me the firing order of this thing? I think I have it out of time. Thanks, Harley. PS Jay, uncover your email, I have one to send you.

Heck fire the one I usta drive could mix a small swimming pool. Is yours articulated? If you double clutch on the differential brakes you'll notice that the factory exhaust flapper was prolly torn off by a tree limb. Use a bean can (Beans are excellent for exhaust) DO NOT USE A CROUTON CAN.... it'll just run crumby. Hope that helped. The firing order is: generally the poor slob doing all the work first, Worthless yes man last.

email uncovered!

I've been in front of this puter too much today, as you can tell by all my posts. But alas, I happened to be a guinine wannabe Briggs certified engineer, and I can tell you matter of factly that the Briggs has no firing order. The 3.5 is a late model, computer driven toddy machine. The chip runs a very complex alogarithmic formula that runs the timing completely random. It makes it virtually impossible to tune correctly. Its some government back to work thingy where they wanted to make a more skilled mechanic seem as incompetant as a lesser skilled one. Seems to work well as now it takes twice as many people with their fingers in their nose to come up with no solution at all.

If I can imagine the run time on your toddie mixer I would recommend that you equip it with an Evo engine- - -or maybe even a Twin Cam.

I think one of those old iron head 1967 XLCH Sporties would turn it, but I'd have to get me a fat girl to carry the thing, Harley

Firing order is 1,1,1,1. Are you sure you have the ampacity going in the correct direction? Some of those engines are bi-polar.

Jay, I think you may have hit the proberbial nail on the head. I probably need to go over to the Taler's board and find a couple of guys that can devote some time to research into the ergonomics of said application of the B.+S. engine in my particular application. I may be inadvertantly overpowering the unit, thus creating too much torque at the start up of the device, hence the slinging of the liquid to the outer sides of the container used to hold said liquid. While I had thought of adding baffles to ease this problem, I think a slower engine speed would suffice if it could be accomplished. Later, Prof. Harley

I probably better check the spark first, I think the points got out of whack when I replaced the coil wire with a cut off coat hangar. Should carry plenty of juice though huh?
