...tractors? i have a F-30 that has new tires and round spokes front and rear, but i think a tractor that is rusty and got a little oil and grease on it looks kinda neat.youknow like it was put in the barn after 50 years of work.a set of steel wheels really set a tractor like that off!mine has good paint on it and it looks nice, but when i go to a tractor show the first thing i go to is the unrestored tractors and engines. now im not talking about junk.no cobbled up trash piles.a unrestored, good running tractor on steel wheels or gas engine with grease on it where it has been running makes me think of when it was in use on a farm. you folks with super slick tractors and engines should be proud of what you have.i know you folks spend a lot of time and MONEY on your stuff and they look nice.i aint slamming nice equip.
just thougt i would ask you guys what your thoughts were?
..... .PP

Here in the UK a good clea and tidy ex farm tractor causes moor intrest than a painted up one. All painted uo ones look the same but the ex farm tractor as far more caricter and there is no two the same. An ex farm tractor will allways sell better at auction than a painted one. I have several ex farm tractors and i am taking my favorite to the Newark tractor show on the 12th and 13th of this month. It is a 1945 Farmall H with WFE Liftall and cultivators. MJ

I agree Pink, I really do enjoy seeing the tractors with the flawless paint jobs looking brand new and being 50 years old. I helped my uncle farm sugar cane for many years and he had lots of different tractors of all ages. My favorite was a 1962 model 830 Case diesel High Crop. Nothing fancy, just loved to operate that one. The others I loved are a 68 model IH 856 HC and a 64 Farmall 806 HC. A 72 JD 4230 and a 73 JD 4430 HC's are also fun to operate. I do like the new ones but really enjoy the old dirty greasy ones the best...

I'm with you. I like the painted ones too, but
the first ones to catch my eye are the old originals.

I will not paint a true original. Now on the otherhand if it was repainted years ago and needs it again I have no qualms about doing the deed.

I love nice ones as much as anybody, but I do think it is a shame to restore a truly original one..they're not making any new ones..

Hi Tim,

Sloroll (from this board) used to have a 966 (before he sold it) that would just absolutely bring tears to your eyes, it was so darned nice.

Talk about envy that feller! :>)

Mornin’ Tim,

Yep, he must have hurt to the core to let that one go, but Bill sacrificed the tractor because of a neighbor in need, which I think is simply the highest form of friendship.

That ol' boy stands awfully darned tall in my eyes.

DO I owe you money??? :? ) Just got back from a couple day seminar on how to do my job. I don't like the big city much. Yes, I hated selling it. Just had no, even remotley, practical way of keeping it. It is local though. That is the first large machine our farm had. I about burned down the machine shed with it and a Eurica vaccum cleaner. I think It pops into my head daily if I did exactly the right thing but it is done. Pete is happy and I am content my wife isn't rolling her eyes. Can't ask for more than that.
