Just curious what you other tractor "Folks" have in the shed to play with when the seasons change and the tractors are tucked away like sardines for the winter? I have met so many tractor folks that also have a deep love for old cars, pickups and trucks of varying tonnage. I used to be into cars and pickups and was working on the winterization this week so had to , of course, take them for a little spin and get the cobwebs out, pump the tires and check all the fluids and gas line antifreeze and a little stabilizer. Currently I have a 65 Impala SS 327 300 hp with camel back heads, a 67 Olds Toronado with 425 (front wheel drive of course), 71 Chevelle with 350 Edelbrook 4 barrel, and 79 Gmc Cabellero with 267 v-8. Is there a site for yesterdays cars similar to this site with discussions and ads? So what's in your Shed? Migraine

My main toys other than the three tractors are a 1961 5000 lb capacity Hyster forklift model HE50 and a Model H Scoopmobile loader, probably late 40's. There's a picture of the Scoopmobile in the galleries under Tractor Photos. I recently got rid of my Adams road grader with the old IH diesel for power.

I used to, had a pretty good dark room set up in a spare bedroom. When the little one came along I didnt like having all those chemicals in the house, and I cant develop where I cant control humidity. Started thinking about switching to digital. Guess it's a good thing, except for stuff like proms nearly all my customers want JPEG or GIFF files for copy.

With the new stuff HP came out with last year for affordable digital printing in 35mm quality and the new digital SLR cameras that came out with 5.0 MP quality and higher, I sold all my darkroom equip and most of my 35mm equip (I kept my first Olympus for nostalgia).

I'm using a HP photolaser with HP 57 and 58 print cartridges on HP premium paper. Cost is running a little over a dollar for an 8x10. For batch runs/packages I like the online sites (smugmug or deviant art). Shooting Olympus E300 at 8.1MP now (and love it), first used a Sony 5.0 MP (big clunky thing with no lense or filter options, then an Olympus E1 (liked it better than the E300) but got it wet during an alternative fashion shoot in Nashville last summer (very very wet).

Well, I have a restored 1952 John Deere A wide-front, a 1955 JD 70 Diesel standard undergoing restoration, and a 1955 Ferguson TEA20 that needs work. Those are the ones under cover. Outside I have whats left of a '48 John Deere D, a 1953 50th Anniversery edition Mercury M-600 truck in beautiful original condition (been in the family since new), a 1951 Maple Leaf 1700 3-ton truck, and lots and lots of implements. I'm going to be busy for a while, restoring this stuff.

I think I saw where you are in Canada so probably why I have Never heard of a Mercury truck or a Maple Leaf truck. Could you give us in the States some information on these units. Is the Mercury truck same as the Ford? What company made the Maple Leaf?

Hi Leroy,

Mercury was the Canadian division of Ford. Same trucks, different name. Under the hood, all the parts are Ford, and it has the same flat-head V-8 in there as in the Fords. Even shares the model designations pretty closely (i.e. M-600 = F-600). In 1953, Ford had its 50th Anniversary, so it was also the 50th Anniversary for Merc. Kind of neat when you clean up the horn button in the steering wheel and it says "1903 - 1953: Fiftieth Anniversary" around the Merc emblem! About equal numbers of Mercurys and Fords up here, so not very rare.

That particular Maple Leaf is an extremely rare truck for up here even. 1930's Maple Leafs aren't very common, but a 1951 is extremely rare. Never even heard of another one. According to the serial number tag, and my research, the Maple Leaf was built by General Motors of Canada. It had a Chevy body on it (even says "Chevrolet" on the nose), but had a GMC engine in them, which were a little bigger than what Chev had in their trucks at the time. This truck needs a lot of work, but I'm very lucky to have found it.

Specter in Central Alberta.

Say, didn't those Canadian Fords and Mercury's have different grilles and/or mouldings on the sides? Seems i remember seeing some different looking Ford products whilst traveling thru Ontario Province, back about 30 years ago. Rusty

I don't think so. I think all that was different was the badging on the hood and the emblem in the horn button. Other than that, I believe that they are the same.

Thanks for the offer 2x4 but I'm just going to keep this one as a water hauling trailer. I have a 1200gal tank mounted to the 7ft flatbed. Mine had a 318 industrial engine that thru a rod in the pan, didn't hurt the block and I had the heads rebuilt and a new rod and was just fixing to start putting everything back together until I thought why pay the expense of maintaining another vehicle when I can just tow it as a trailer.

Before I bought the truck the owner had installed a 2spd 2-1/2ton Eaton differential so it worked well for pulling a MH from Co to Az then I converted it to a water truck and the teenagers decided it was time to drag race "the truck". That pretty well did in the engine. It only had 40lbs compression and very little vacuum but would still start and move 10klbs of water at 20mph.

I know someone with an original ford T bird. 1500 original miles , and those miles were put on by blocking up the car , and setting in one spot. just enough to keep everything lubed. The car is litterally in show room condition.

Putting up a 30 x 40 shop. Got a 1976 Corvette Sting Ray, a 1980 Camaro Z-28 and a 1965 MG-B to play with as well as spruce up the 8N and the 861D.

I've got a '68 Camaro and a'70 Opel GT which have been in storage for nearly 30 years. Both were in excellent condition when I put them away but I'm sure need a little TLC now. I also have a '70 Triumph mototcycle. It is 100% factory except for tires and exhaust. It was just ridden last week. I also have a vintage bicycle. Lots of other little odds&ends. I try not to collect too much as time is SO limited. Glenn F.

'78 Yamaha XS750E Triple, with "issues". Debating whether to make it a winter project or cut my losses and re-"cycle" it.

Oh yea, forgot have a 94 Impala SS just got redone. Lt1 engine goes like well you know. Nicest car I've ever driven for ride and cornering. Black as night. Neat stuff coming on this post. I figured there was a lot of cool stuff in these sheds. Keep it coming! Migraine

Not much, a 1962 Corvette, ground up restoration, 327-360 plus hp, the Harley was stolen some time back, never did get another one. Oliver 1855 restored and used to pull a 10 shank chisel plow.
