Was looking at an Oil Pull Rumley yesterday just northwest of here and I couldn't find any ID tag on the tractor but all the casting numbers seemed to start with C5P and then the casting #. What model and year(s) is this machine?

Hi Mike.
C5P makes it a Super Lightweight Model X 25-40 from around 1928-30. Serial number is on the valve chest cover which is often missing. It is also stamped on the front axle if you look carefully. My tractor came from Ontario, and is a pleasure to drive. Good luck and enjoy.

Mike, I am not an expert at this but I believe the C5P casting is a generic number. Places to look for model leter and searial number Are, the valve cover.Which may no longer be with tractor. On the very front of tractor in rased letters [Rumely], below is a depresion on the bottom of depreson should be a flat spot with model and searial. Another place is near stearing shaft. Also engine number will be near front inspection cover. I think on left side? Post model leter and serial number and I can tell year. Philip

Thanks for the info on those locations, I will pass it on to the fellow who is interested in buying this tractor. I have checked through an old issue of AP Magazine (nov-dec 2000) and looked at those pictures and it is definitely a "lightweight" with one of those pressed steel frames. Maybe a model L, M or R Allthough the R seems a bit heavy) or perhaps a W, or model X. The others seem a bit too big. The fellow that is selling this is a bit reluctant to part with it but he has agreed to sell it to my friend if and when the time comes for $4000 Canadian, that would be about $3200 US I think. It looks pretty much complete (missing valve cover and mag) but otherwise is straight and looks good. Is that a pretty good price? Pricing on these things is not known too much up here since there aren't a lot of them on the market.
