I have discided to buy a 5th wheel trailer to pull behind my 2002 GMC Z71 Ext Cab. I was using a friends 20 ft bumper hitch Corn Pro trailer, but the suspension on the truck sucks and empty the trailer squated springs. Truck has plenty of power. So I want to install a hidden 5th wheel ball, The kind that the ball can be pulled out or turned upside down, so bed is smooth, other than the 2 5/16 inch hole where ball goes. Does anyone know who makes hidden 5th wheel, anyone had any problems? What is the average price?

i sure hope you dont come near illinois. im sorry but you say you have a z71 so that means its a 1/2 ton and a 20 ft trailer? how are you gonna stop it? i dont care if it has trailer breaks or not. the steering should be real easy though. sorry to be harsh but its about breaking not pulling. if you were to compare breaks to horse power think about this the average semi takes 1 mile to get to 60mph or so lets jsut say. they want that same truck to stop 60 to 0 in 300 ft. no you got a 500 horse engine to get it going up to 60 mph engine that takes a mile and you want to stop in 300. its about the stoppoing not the going. i dotn care if i ever break down as long as i can stop i dont care call the wrecker i could care less i jsut want to be able to stop

If you are looking for a removable goose neck ball there are several out there, some have a leaver that goes inside of one of the rear fenders you can pull to pop it up or down, and some have a couple pins you can pull to take it out, mine is in there all the time and usually doesn't get in the way, just get a good one and stay away from anything that looks a little cheep, some of the real cheesy ones wear out and wont stand straight up when you are trying to hook up the trailer...

B&W makes an attachment for their basic turn over ball gooseneck hitch that will convert it to a 5th wheel hitch. It clamps over the goosneck ball and is easily removeable so you can use the pick up bed. You have to install the gooseneck hitch before you can use it. Do a web search and look up their website for more info.

Junkman,

This is obvious so maybe it does not need to be said, but make sure the trailer you by is set up for the type of hitch. It looks like those Hidden hitches are goose-neck type set-ups, not 5-th wheels.

I am sure he is talking about gooseneck, but there are equipment trailers that use the inverted 5th-wheel with the kingpin in the truck bed. Some of the companies that make the quick removeable gooseneck setups also offer kingpins that drop into their under the bed receivers. The nice part about having the inverted 5th-wheel
hitch is that it limits the number of people who can borrow or steal it.

Mine ran $575 installed without a controller 'cause the pickup already had one. However, if I would have needed the controller, it would have been another $100.

'Course when they see me comin', I'm pretty sure that they ratchet their flat rate up a notch. They know I'm retarded. :>)

B&W gets my vote. Turn that ball upside down and you won't even know it's there.
