I have the oppotunity to buy an 801 powermaster with bad powersteering, and 6 volt system, decent paint and runs good, or buy a 600, new paint front end loader, questionable running performance, has been known to stop running every now and then, owner states could be dirt in fuel tank. I want to mow with 6 foot brushhog, which unit would be the best bang for the buck? 801-$2800 or 600-$2550

I have an 801-861 Diesel and it's a real workhorse. It sounds like that one is gas (6 volt) but I'd still pick the 801.

I'd buy the best running tractor, its a no brainer. They still make equipment everyday to fit tractors.

Paint won't Pull a Mower

Nobody has addressed the fact that you want to pull a 6' mower. If you are clipping weeds or dead stuff the 600 might be okay. If you get into any thick green grass or heavy brush you will run out of power in a hurry with the 600. If the 600 has had the loader on it for a long time you need to check the front axle pivot bushing, they would wallow out over a period of time even without a loader. You can always paint the 801 later or not worry about it if you are going to keep it in a shed. I always found a running tractor even if it was ugly much more useful than a stalled one with shiny or new paint. If the problem with the 600 is as simple as dirt in the tank why would a seller who would repaint the tractor not clean out the tank so that it could be sold as a tractor without issues? Go with the one that will do what you need to do the most and worry about appearances least, are you buying it to use or look at?

What model 801? Some of the 801 series did not have live PTO. Also - some had Select-o-speed trans.

801 is around 45HP and the 600 is around 34 HP so its up to you if you want the higher power or not. I'd go with the 801 but I have one and its been good for years

Forgot about the loader but if the 600 doesn't have power steering the loader is worth less since you need arms as big as your leg to steer. Hay Wayne you want a case 800 lol I'll sell it now lol

I'm only asking whole sale price for it. And most of the time if you can count to ten before it starts you forgot to turn on the gas. Shoot if you get to 5 your lucky. Only asking $2500 OBO. LOL

We had the Farmhand F-10 loaders mounted on wide front and nf tractors without the power steering.
Didnt really have a problem with steering. Just grew up that way I guess. And only one of the tractors had lpto. Go with the 800 Ford.

Loader is on 600 -801 straight tractor, needs for 6' mower, I'm thinking he'll need to lift something someday!! Couldn't a fella trade down from 6' and get $. Wayne
