Lost Posts???? Early yesterday I posted a response about a Cub with a PTO driven, pull-behind bushhog type mower which I had seen in Stamps, Arkansas. Later in the day I noticed that my post was missing and wondered how and why it disappeared. I noticed last night that it was present but it is missing again this morning. I am not upset about its loss, the info it contained is of no particular value to anyone, just a comment that I had seen a pull behind mower on a Cub. I am curious though about how it was present initially, then lost, then re-appeared, and now is missing again. Any ideas on why this is happening? Dan

Doris,

We have what I believe is a factory-built "bushog" for the Cub, but at this time it's hidden by tree limbs from the hurricane. As soon as I can get pictures, I'll post them. This mower trails behind the Cub and is driven by the PTO. It has a belt on it with two pulleys--one at 90 degrees to the other. It's small enough (maybe about 3' max) for the Cub to handle it, but I wouldn't want to go into a field with a bunch of debris or small saplings. For grass mowing it should work as well as the typical IHC or Woods belly mower. Besides this one I've only seen one or two others, but I'm sure they can be purchased used.

Only way I know of to do it is with a self powered unit. A couple of people make these for use behind ATV's. The link below is to one source.

Kind of spendy but it will do what you propose

Your mileage may vary

Some will take exception to this idea, but the Cub has far too little engine horsepower for "bush hogging". I should know, I own 4 of them. I seriously doubt that a cutter set up for the Cub PTO situation will be found.

1 pto turns at engine speed 1600rpm on a 1950
2 pto turns same directiuon as engine which means it is backwards to all standard pto's

NOW the option that I am aware of is to have/get a fasthitch on the tractor and then can get a 42" fasthitch rear mount bushhog or a 59" finish mower. Both hard to come by and not cheap, however doable if enough money is avaible.

OR even rarer is to get a HUB CITY pto reverser/speed reducer, no longer made. Install this and the hitch up a 4' pull type bushhog

Just takes money, money and lots of looking.
Good luck
Ron

Keep in mind that not any bush hog will work with a Cub. The PTO turns in the opposite direction of a normal tractor.
