Hydraulic chatter

OK, so my tractor is not old, but I still need some help/suggestions. I have a 2001 New Holland 3010-S with a Bushhog Loader. Tractor has 600 hours on it.

Out of the blue about 2 months ago started to get jerky movement in the hydraulics. Mostly on the loader, but also noticeable on the 3-point lift.

I changed the Hydraulic Oil Filter and double checked fluid level and no improvement. I added more fluid to the point where I'm a little bit over-full, but still no change. Visual inspection shows no kinked hoses or lines, at least that I can see.

Does anyone have any suggestions about the possible culprit? With relatively few hours, I can't believe it's a problem with the pump already, but then again...they don't build them like they used to..:-) or something like that.

Larry

I would check the suction line to the pump if it has hoses with clamps somewhere in the suction line it might be sucking air that will cause a chatter also check your suction screen in the resvore if it has one if a suction screen is partlly pluged up the chatter will be worse with cold oil. Also hoses with clamps will suck air but will not leak oil. Don

If you have any quick couplers on your tractor I would check to make sure they are fully seated and have not got any gunk in them. I have had fittings partially release and it can give those type of troubles. HTH... JF

to the best of my knowledge, the chatter is caused by a piston style hyd pump.this happens when one or more of the check balls do not seal on the seat.
