When I try to log in on Ebay, I get a security
alert that says; You are about to be redirected
to a connection that is not secure.
The information you are sending to the current site may be transmitted to a nonsecure site.
Do you wish to continue?

The weird thing is, if I click 'no' and hit the back button, it logs me in.

Am I just being paranoid, or what`s that all about.

I guess things are just safer here on YT.
The problem is that they don`t sell boat seats, or hunting backpacks.
Thanks in advance Brokenwrench

It's because only the login page is secure, where you type in your password. After you log in and go to the E-bay main page, you go to an insecure page since you're not passing sensitive data anymore (your password). If you're getting the message now and never got it before, you've probably installed a Microsoft Update to your computer (may have been installed automatically if you have automatic update enabled). One of those updates may have changed your Internet security settings to a higher setting. That higher setting is why it's giving you that alert that you're going to an insecure page. If you did an update to Internet Explorer, it would do the same thing.

I just logged in to E-bay to try it, mine doesn't give me the warning (I use Netscape and have changed a lot of those default settings) but I noticed it does go from a secure to unsecure page after you log in.

That box probably has a checkmark you can check to tell it not to remind you again, if you check it you won't get the box again.

If you're worried about security, try Firefox or Netscape - anything but IE!

Kerry

I got the exact same message a few days ago, and did not sign in, went in the next day, and was already signed in.

I know what you are talking about, but at present there is nothing in the upper left corner. It comes and goes.

I think e-bay is a bit screwed up right now, I have no problem logging in, but there is nothing provided for me to sign out, so I just close the site.

Are you navigating to ebay via a link or typing the address into the nav bar? Make sure you are going directly to the ebay website. Once at the site, look up in the address bar and make sure it says "http://www.ebay.com/". If you are using a link, make sure the link is pointing to www.ebay.com If it points anywhere else, or has any thing after the .com besides a "/" (without the quotes), then you are being redirected and you are at risk. This is not to say once you navigate to the ebay.com site you will not be redirected, but it should be to a secure sign in link. Check at the bottom of the screen and look for an icon of a small padlock to make sure it is secure. It should also say signin.ebay.com next to the icon. Good luck. Rick

I have the website saved in favorites, this is what I always use to log in, and yes, the security icon is always there.
