Mornin' Guys,

Was gonna have 'em fill the fuel barrels today, but all the chatter has scared me off and I shall wait until the price of fuel goes down.

I worry that old age, senility and crepitus will set in first tho, don't ya think? :>)

Allan

Did phones for years at a trading exchange. The futures used to be one year out from the day trades were made, hence "futures". These days speculation means this second so everyone can get a jump on making THAT killing.

Tell you what Allan, seems like a long time ago that fuel was creaping up to $2.00 per gallon. Kind of wish I'd bout a few hundred gallons then. That's a sick thought, considering was paying $1.35 a gallon for deisel less than a year and half ago.

Ask me, the current fuel prices were manipulated by planted or manufactured speculation again. Now blaming an anticipated 70% raise in natural gas and heating oil prices on the hurricanes. Only problem with that arguement, they were talking 70% increases months before the hurricanes. How quickly many forget, and easy they can be wrangled into "Oh yes, that's right, hurricanes".

Mornin Allan,
You could always look into alterate modes of transportation, that don`t burn fossil fuels.
Although, given the current situation, I have a feeling you`d rather make a fossil out of the one you have:)

Sorry for that, the mischievious stinker in me
momentarily came out.
Hope all is well and on the mend. Brokenwrench

We as Americans got to do this on our own. We cannot continue to use fossil fuels. A lot of people are working on different forms of power, mostly electric. Our congress (all OF them) are invested in the oil industry in one way or another, so we are by our selves on this. Just keep praying for an idea that will work. It took 3 trillion barrels of oil in the first 100 years and we are predicted to use that much in the next 30 years, so we don't have a choice but to change. Change into what?, I don't know yet but I think its coming soon.

Allan

You might as well go ahead and fill the tanks, 'cause the price of fuel is not likely to take a significant dip for a little while. Its either bite the bullet, or the tractors sit.

Hope the wife is feeling better. May I suggest you strike while the iron is hot. Suggest the nags need a new home. Say nothing about dog food or glue production.

All kidding aside, if the animal that hurt her is likely to do it again it has no place on your little spread.

John

Since Katrina, our inventories have remained about steady. That's a huge bonus considering there is so much supply offline right now. Demand is off considerably. Should me prices are coming down. Back up a sec - 2 days ago, the IEA raised their demand estimate for 2006. Also Accuweather has forecasted a colder than normal winter for the East coast. Price should be going up. Wait a minute. High prices are slowing the economy. Etc etc etc.

Demand will be off - I've been seeing a lot of talk of people putting in wood stoves, corn stoves, etc. If 1 in 100 do it, that's 1%. Huge. SUVs aren't selling well. etc.

Today at 9:30 the API and DOE release the past weeks inventory levels. That should set the market for the coming week. I'll let you know when they come out what they are.

However, don't let any facts confuse you in a rumor driven speculator market. It can go either way.

Jay

Like you said its supply and demand. Price went up and demand dropped, thats why the inventories are steady. If the government went to price controls like it did under Nixon the inventories would be wiped out and instead of high gas prices with no lines you'd have slightly lower prices but only able to buy fuel every other day of the week or so.

Yepper,

In my 61 years, I don't ever recall it "going down". I think that is against the rules 'er something. :>)

Although, like Rusty says, if we park 'em and eliminate the non-essential running, it would sure slow the process a little. The grand design only works if the pump lever is flipped up and flowing.

So, no do-nut fer the wife this morning. :>)

Allen, just go ahead and bite the bullet, get the fuel, apologise to the missus for your hatred of horses and keep on working. We havent learned to make fuel from horse manure yet. LOL

Yep, I think it is high time that everyone just leave everything parked, unless it's absolutely necessary to start it up.
