I think I bought another tractor by accident. A Farmall H with a 6 foot woods belly mower. Leaving in a few minutes. If I get it, I'll post some pictures.

My trained eye can tell it has the "correct" battery box with bungee cord upgrade.

Here it is - 1942 H which fits between my 49 C and my 45 M.

Overall decent shape. Starts and runs nice. Needs the shifter lever built up as I slipped it out of synch once already. There is something a little goofy with the hydraulics, I think just sticky, as I could get the deck to raise, but not lower. The 6 foot woods deck is in very nice condition. A lot nicer than that on my C. I may try and sell it. It's got some wore through spots on the front hood in the usual steering box area. No biggy. I'm pretty sure it doesn't charge. Has good oil pressure, doesn't smoke. Misses some. Fenders original and near perfect. Straight tin. Welded drawbar. Seat pan isn't great. Needs rear rubber (which I think I have a near perfect used set already).

What am I doing? I have no land. I already have my C with a 6 foot deck on it for mowing my couple of acres. A M with a loader for this and that. I guess this one was too good of deal to pass up.

Very nice tractor! I am also quite jealous.

(But dude that is one scary-ass house in the background of picture #2! Is it haunted? Yikes.)

That house does look scary but the thing I notice from the picture is the fact that they have what looks like patches of snow on the ground but the grass is green.

How do you get weather cold enough for snow but warm enough for green grass????? ????? ?????

The "town" I live in has 5 residents. 4 in my house. However, in it's day, it was quite the bustling community and the biggest town in the county. That house was one of the fanciest houses in town. French doors, maids quarters, etc. - was owned by a business man that owned the grocery store. His children moved on, he died. Children didn't want to sell it or rent it until it was bad, then eventually they sold it to people that could afford a run down place. It didn't get any better. It's been about 30 years since anyone has lived there.

The snow we got 4 or 5 days ago in the worst storm I've ever seen this early. We ended up with 15 to 20 inches. I had banks in my one yard over 4 feet deep. On the flat the snow is gone, but it remains in the ditches and treelines. It only got to about +30 that day. It's been 45-50 since, just a lot of white to melt. And that's the beauty of quack grass, it takes more than a little cold, or a little flood, or a little drought to stop it from being green.
