Sorry to hear about your wife, hope all turns out well...

Got a question about my F 11, one of the hydraulic cylinders started leaking, needs a new set of seals. Any recommendations on rectifying the situation? Should I dismount the entire cylinder and take it to a shop or is it a DIY job? Is that sucker as heavy as it looks???

Dug

Mornin" Dug,

The F-10 has about the easiest cylinders there are for resealing; on the other hand, that F-11 is kind of a stinker because they work in both directions.

However, it is a straight-ahead job, but you just have to keep your wits about you (thinking of oil flow)when you put it back together, as they have changed the design of the seal kit somewhat.

If you are the mechanical sort, you can easily handle it; if not, haul it into a shop and they can swap "em out in a couple of hours for you.

Also, if you are lucky enough to have the dead-head end of the cylinder mounted in the rear frame upright, you can disassemble it on the loader and leave that tube right where it is, just pulling the ram out the forward end.

The early loaders mounted with the ram pushing backwards towards the tractor axle tho and in this case, the cylinder has to either be completely removed for repair or you have to drop it down where you can pull it out under the back of the tractor.

Hope this helps,

Allan

Thanks for the reply, Allan. I was down at the barn looking the situation over tonight and with your suggestions, I think I can handle the job...seems like I've said that before...and lived to regret it! :- )

I'll keep your wife in my prayers until she is home again!

Hi Keith,

No, I have the smaller F-11.

First picture is of a F-10 mounted on a 656, second picture is of my little F-11 on the H. I"m crazy "bout this combination, but it sure isn"t the horse that those old F-10s are.

Thanks,

Allan
