A friend has about 1/2 fuel tank of #2 Fuel oil that I can get for "cheap"....

How can I check to be sure there is no algae, etc in the fuel..???

It is probably 10 years old, but smells good...In a bucket it looks ok...what do YOU think..???

Thanks.. Ron..

I'd double filter it and mix it 50/50 with fresh fuel as i filled up. I wouldn't have a problem with it that way...

Get a hold of your gas man and get a finger full of water finding paste. If it comes back with no water, you have no algae. Take all the fuel except the bottom 2 inches. Throw that on a tree pile somewhere.

Both posts are giving you good advice. My brother in law had a similar offer, took the fuel, started running it in his ford 4000. Shortly after the motor shut down. Had to have the fuel pump rebuilt, all the injectors replaced, and a few other problems, at a cost of nearly 1K. We all are suckers for bargains, but sometimes the "bargains" bite us. My2$worth.
