Large consignment auction today in s.w. Pa. Between 60 -100 Tractors. I only remember a few prices -the ones I bid on or wish that I had. Often the auctioneer would get to yelling bids from two Invisible Bidders (IB) & actually no real buyer would bother to bid. Some results: Jd 2750 w3300 hrs canopy $7600; AC 170 gas 3400 hrs & nice $5000; Int 686D big radials $5600; Another 686D Nice $6000 to IB; another 686D new tires $6800 to IB; 2840 JD $7400; JD 60 w new overhaul & PS & a leak around fanshaft $1700 to IB; 674D good engine PTO dead $4500 to IB; 1086 nice $15,000 IB; 560D good engine, scrappy tin & nearly no seat $900 IB; Ford 3000G PS good rubber $3600; 3000D w loader rough $I forget but like $3800; 966 nice $9000 IB; 886 cab nice around $10,000 but to IB; 7610 cab 4X4 $9600 IB.

What's an IB? I don't understand the lingo sometimes. I wouldn't try to buy a tractor on the east coast anyway. It's to early in the mornin and I ain't finished my coffee yet.

Invisible Bidder- he mentioned it in the post. Sometimes trying to work someone up by taking invisible bids isn't enough- item is still too cheap- so they resort to two invisible bidders so the prices look respectable. Sort of transforms it from a crooked auction to a complete fairy tale.
