Just looked at the weather.com and looks kinda white out in Montana,Wyoming and S. Dakota. Any of you fellows from that area. Our first frost is still a month away.

Snowing? That's a bad word. We're baling hay today in Central Ohio.

It's not snowing by a long shot here in west Texas, but it hit here about 5:30 or a little after this afternoon. It dropped from 90 to 65 before I could get in the house. The shock was a little to much.

I think the US is in for a cold one, especially in the deep south. I'm bracing for freezeing rain and cold snaps that break water lines here in Tx.. If it don't happen then I'll feel lucky. I hope you guys fare it well if it is a tough one. I'll bet it snows in Houston this year, the last time was 1982, 4" which never happens there.

Started a couple hours ago - we are supposed to get upwards of around a foot today. Fortunately, it rarely stays when it comes this early.

Just started snowing in SW Manitoba within the last hour. I may be far enough west to miss most of it. Some older guys reminded me last night that in 1959 two to three feet fell on the night of Oct 4. And you guessed it, it all went away, but not till late April.

There is 8 to 9 inches out there right now on the flat. Probably another couple that melted right away. 14 years ago today we decked the basement of my dads new house due to snow, not to open it up again until the week before Christmas. Turned out to be a nice winter and we were able to finish building it that winter after the 3 month delay.

Hi Jay!

Came in here at 8:00pm last night and immediately shut down all our satellite dishes with about an inch of heavy wet stuff, so now I'm back in the "crawl up on the roof mode" once again.

Hope this isn't one of those "come early and leave late" years. :>(

Looks like playtime is about over fer another year. :>)

Allan

Yep - I'm going to head out to scrape my dish so I can get the news. I know you use yours for business and are on your roof. Be careful up there. I'm lucky enough that I have 1 gig wireless internet, but through a microwave dish, so crap rarely sticks to it (and no latency!). Too early/dark for a regular picture, here's the satelite.

But my other dish (DTN) that I need for business is blocked! Dang nabbit. I can get it on the internet too, just not as 'real time'. Don't need it that bad today - will probably let the sunshine take care of it.

Went to Bonners Ferry Id near the Canadian Border yesterday. The mountains to the west and east along hwy 95 had snow on the top 1000 feet or so. That gives us about 3000 feet before it gets to us! She`s a coming like a freight train with no brakes but we`re ready and the snowshoes are by the door.

Wayne2; Where in the upper Columbia are you? I grew up in The Wenatchee valley and worked up around Omak a few summers. Live in Bemidji MN now and 10 cords just gets you through with an outdoor boiler. Wood prices are skyrocketing along with other fuel. No snow here but we are forcast for the fringe of it today or tonight.

I dont have any more, may be wishing I did. I had several, none of which I would recommend any longer as there are so many new ones. Our son has an Aqua-Therm, their new model. It is really effiecient and works well. He heats his shop, 32X74 (in floor heat) and his house including the hot water with it. Electric back up in the house and gas in the shop. If I build a new house at the farm (32 miles) I will heat house and shop with one. Wood is getting expensive but we do have wooded land with blowdowns and thinning there is enough to heat with.

6 inches worth at the farm in southern Saskatchewan. I'm at work, 450 miles northeast of there, and no hint of snow up here. Funny darned weather this year.
