Yes, this appears to be off topic, but since there has been a lot of conversation here recently about the price of gasoline and thirsty trucks, I thought why not. Anyway, I am traveling from MN to AZ in the next couple of weeks. I had planned to fly, but if someone south and west of MN is looking for a small fuel efficient pickup I could just as well drive it as far as your place (hopefully somewhere reasonably close to my destination). I won't go into details about the truck here to avoid the appearance of this being a classified ad.

I have an 88 chevy s-10 with a 4.3 that I have used to haul an 18' trailer and a small case tractor in a pinch. Worked good. Neighbor has a 90s toyota pu with 22re engine. Wanted to borrow my trailer to haul some equipment. Had to go rescue trailer and equipment and then go back and trailer his Toyrota home with blown engine. Also I have 150k on him for mileage and he takes a lot better care of his truck than mine.

I was thinking about buying a vehicle built by one of those companies from japan then I got a reminder, I watched the pbs show about what japan did to our pows in ww2. How they filled a trench with gasoline and put our guys in it and lit it. Also the batan death march was described in the program. I no longer am willing to consider buying from these companies.

I discovered that it is permissible to advertise a pickup in the YT Photo Ads "Miscellaneous" (for a fee, of course), so you can check it out there (Ad #114568). Sorry, Charles but Rimshot is right on about the little Toyota being one RELIABLE little workhorse. No, it is not a 3/4 ton dually, but it does what it does better than the competition (this is my third).

"Yes, this appears to be off topic,". It appears to be an ad too.

My buddy has one on those Tocoma's. This is his second one. He traded the first off after over 300K miles. He weighs over 700 lbs himself. The Toyota carries him just fine.

Let"s get one thing straight, Toyota is a car with an open trunk. If you don"t think so, put a gooseneck hitch in it and pull a few trailers around our farm. It would be leaving on a trailer. Let"s not forget, even though there built here now, the money still goes overseas. I just can"t stomach knowing my hard earned money was going to support the downfall of America. Wake up, then go down and buy an Anerican product.

I have a Ford F-250, Dodge 350, have had Chevys, and the Toyota is STILL the best truck I've ever had. I wish the US companies could build a truck as reliable.

If you would use that thing you call a truck like you use your other one's, you might just change your mind. Our 1 ton Chevy had 380,000 miles before we blew it up, oh by the way those are miles with a gooseneck pulling our backhoe. Our 3/4 ton has 220,000 miles and I have pulled our 26' horse trailer with it since I bought it. My 1/2 ton has 249,972 miles on it and have never have the any breakdowns with it. Did I mention that 350 engine gets 18 to 21 mpg. If you were to use the toyota like you use your other trucks, I don't think the reliably would be as great. Lets do a test, put a ball in the bed, work the living @#*^ out of it and see how long she last. Might make a good TV commercial.... for Chevy or Ford. Just my opinion. :)

I think comparing S-10's, Dakotas, and Rangers would be more fair. But you are just so smart I'll give up arguing with you.

Rimshot, I'm not arguing with you. When I purchased my 1/2 ton GMC I too had looked at the little trucks, after the sticker shock, I figured if I were going to spend that kind of money, I will buy an American made truck that could haul more weight, haul more people, have more power and be more safe on the highways. Alot of people like toyota, I just dont think there all that. Like I said, just my opinion.
