I need to put new bearings on the input shaft in the tranny on a 1953 super h farmall. What i need to know is what do i need to do to replace the bearings? Do i need to pull the top off to get to the shaft? Do i drop the lift all etc.

aint no reason to remove the top thats one heavy chunk of cast . drop the belly pump remove the drive shaft one hint i have found is to remove the belt pulley gearbox that helps you to be able to move the gears a little to match up the shafts PS watch for the little bearing in the end of the input shaft

You need to get a set of manuals for your tractor.

It is much easier if you remove the top cover, but I don't believe that it is necessary. You will need to remove the hydraulic pump.
