Dumb question, but i dont kbnow. Are they a angus/ hereford cross. I see ads for them all the time and want to buy a few cows/steers to have on the farm here for beef and for the kids to learn bout catle.

Hi Allan, Hope all is well in you end of Neb. Thought I would add Black Baldies are also called "#1 Okies" too. That from my yrs in the Okla panhandle. Gee Whiz info. They also handle cold very well too.

I had a few baldies years ago and they were the wildest cows I ever had. I had to build a rhino proof loading chute out of logs to get them on a truck. One had her nose shredded from trying to find a way out. I could have sold her to a rodeo. After a few generations of breeding to Tarentaise bulls I had nice gentle cows and the angus in the baldy foundation cows took the horns off most of the subsequent generations.
