I remember you saying that the pellet stoves are vent free. Does that mean that you dont need a hot stack pipe going out the roof? Is this true? If it is then I think that the cost of a pellet stove is not too bad because installation cost would be nill. If it is true then I would think that the smell of the pellets burning would be like a cigarette burning, fill me in.

any wood burning is not going to be 100% efficient it is going to have to be vented , gas can be unvented but you best have a co2 sensor in your home

You might want to get a CO detector instead of that "CO2 sensor". Either CO or CO2 can kill you, but carbon dioxide (CO2) is an asphyxiant in high concentrations, carbon monoxide (CO)is poisonous in low concentrations.

The Harman model 45 wood pellet/grain stove is thermostatically controled, self lighting and does not require a conventional chimney. The 45 vents similar to a medium or high efficiency furance through a double walled pipe placed the house wall.

Thanks, I will looking into it after I get a new job. The price of that Propane is going to be a killer. I will be putting in more insulation in about a month in the crawl space and I am going to be instructing the wife to turn down the thermostat to 60f when she leaves for work.
