I found a 4X4 diesel tractor (class 2 3 point hitch,County brand. Says it was made in England. Anyone know about these? It's Ford blue BTW. It has one bad tire but appears to be complete, ie, no missing parts.

The County tractor is very much a County design as it relates to the 4WD. It was built by County Commercial Cars Ltd. of England. As far as I know, the rear half of the tractor was based on a Ford 5000 skid unit. The engine was a Ford 2700 series industrial engine. These were unstressed engines, and were not structural members like the Ford BSD tractor engines. County tractors were sold up until the early 80's, and as far as I know, County got into finincial difficulties. I don't know how you would fare getting 4WD related parts. The engine parts for those 2700 series engines are getting difficlut to find for some models. The basic Ford 5000 tractor parts are readily available through NewHolland. I think I would also agree with the comment about turning radius. They don't look to be a sharp turning design.... HTH.

These tractors where built for Ford. Don't know what engine the all blue ones used but the last ones used 7000 and 8000 Ford engines. Very good tractors but, not a very short turnng radius.

Ken: Don't know a lot about these tractors, but remember seeing two new versions at a Ford dealer in PEI, Canada about 35+ years ago. One was 4 cylinder and the other 6 cylinder. Decals called them County 4 and County 6. They are very much Ford, through the entire power train. My understanding the 4 cylinder was same engine as 7000 and 6 cylinder was same engine as 9000.

The orignal County 4 was a Fordson major deisel and the 6 was the same tractor with a 6 cylinder, long before the 7000-9000 came out
