Gas crisis

I keep hearing about goals to fix the oil/gas problem with more oil/gas reserves. The problem is our national leadership and energy policy. Remember when a president presented a goal to put man on the moon within a decade and we did just that. Well, it's time to switch to a new energy source; hydrogen, ethanol, or whatever. The world's demand for oil products cannot be satisfied forever. Our demand for cheap Chinese products is coming back to grab us at the gas stations. Everyday we become more dependent on foreign oil. The president COULD guide the US to independence.

Who shoots down any off shore oil drilling. Clue..not the president. So to end the reliance on foreign oil, we must relax the standards on refining and refineries and not have some many blends, allow more off shore drilling. Simple, yes. With a certain group of people (politicians) in the way, impossible.

How are the off-shore rigs in Gulf of Mexico and the Carribean doing? Is that something on which we can rely?

There is no gas crisis. When people stop driving 100+ miles for $100 worth of groceries when there is a store 10 miles away, we may be on the verge of a crisis. When people stop buying $40k SUVs that get 12 mpg, we may be on the verge of a crisis. When people start fencing their lawns and bringing in goats, we are probably in a crisis. When people park the tractors and farm with horses, we are in a crisis.

Lets get real the president can't do any thing about this other then ask the senete and house to do things. He just the person that has the last word but even then congress and over ride him. Let stop putting the blame on the person that can't do much more then push ideas.

That is not what he promised when he was running for the Oval Office. Maybe after his 30 day vacation he'll have some fresh ideas. Perhaps some of our men and women in Iraq could come home long enough to get their families off the rooftops of their houses in MS and LA before they finish mopping up Bush's last bright idea.

Hydrogen is stored at 5000 lbs. PSI. Compare that to the 2250 PSI in a divers tank. I don't understand the waste of time on it.
