I want to purchase a 10-15 ton truck mounted hydraulic crane to set trusses, etc. Anyone wiyh experience to reccomend brands;featores to avoid? I'll be buying a 10-25 yearold unit. There is a lot of residential work available, but I want to buy for cash so I can trade up in a few years. If anyone wants to e-mail me ,please use: cdcreit@earthlink.net

one has to really watch liability on such an item. if doing it for a friend ie not for hire profit i dont know but i would imagine you would be ok but if you are doing it for hire setting trusses and the hydraulic cylider fails and drops a truss, smashes a wall, even worse kills somone on the roof who was going to secure the truss. i would check into insurance business license etc. also license plates are going to be quite high (i guess depending on what you are used to cheaper then a semi more expensive then a truck). also if your doing alot of residential work and your moving a 30,000lb truck down city streets permits will be in order to get to job sites if you want to do it truly legal. i know you use the most direct route and theres no other way to get there but legally you still have toget a permit to travel down the roads some counties easier and cheaper then others. ignorance is no excuse either been there tried that. i was delivering a 60 ft boom lift to a man topping out the trees at his house. was the only way to get there load was not easily devisable (ie stone, concrete etc just dont put as much on the truck)and i was still given a ticket was not over width just overweight for a residential neighborhood even though no other way to get there. i asked the cop if he would like me to unload the machine and drive that down the road and he didnt liek that either well those are the only 2 ways i know of to get it there haul it or drive it.
