I know you all have beat the topic of high fuel prices to death but this is not about how high the price will go or why it is so high right now.

I was listening to the local talk radio today and the news had a spot on drive offs at the fuel pumps.
They said that drive offs were up 25% since fuel prices went up.

They went on to say..... ..... ..

One guy even ran over and killed a store owner as he ran out the door to try and stop this person from leaving with out paying for his gas.
They did not say if they caught the driver or not.

Now this is a crying sham. To run over and kill someone for $30.00 worth of gas.
GOD HELP US.

I've seen a guy recently get verbally hostile when the store clerk said that the "prepay" practice was to be applied to all customers.

I WILL NOT BUY FUEL AT A STA. THAT IS PRE-PAY ONLY. THAT IS THE SAME THING AS CALLING ME A THIEF. I KNOW THAT PEOPLE STEAL GAS,BUT IF THEY DONT TRUST ME TO WALK FROM THE PUMP TO THE INSIDE,THEY DONT NEED MY PATRONAGE.

IF YOU DON`T PREPAY I DON`T NEED YOUR BUSSINESS. IF YOU WILL NOT PREPAY THEN I THINK YOU MUST BE A THIEF. BOTTOM LINE IS I CAN`T AFFORD TO HAVE PEOPLE STEAL GAS IF YOU WILL NOT PREPAY THEN GO SOME WHERE ELSE

They have the same stories around here but the station owners claim they only make a penny per gallon and they have to pump 3000 gallons to make up the loss

They had a service station owner on the news and he said he made 3 cents on $.20@gallon in the 50s and he"s making 12 cents a gallon at 2.50@gallon. He said if the percentage stayed the same he should be making $.@gallon. I think this 1-3 cents a gallon is a lie/myth perpetuated by the store owners or ignorant people. It"s obvious that they make more if you can go from one town to the next with the same brand and there is up to a 15 cent difference in price.

The .05 to .08 made on gas is a cut throat business when you compair it to the .16 to .20 made by the store on diesel.

In all fareness most diesel stores have a lot more expences.
Bigger lot
Free showers
Ect..... ...

Some places are raising the amount of fuel you have to buy to get a free bath ,we have a charge account with pilot and we can shower with out buying any fuel nice when the wife and I are out traveling in the car and don't want to get a motel room to cleanup.

This has been going on for a week or two now. I have an opinion as to what needs to to be done, but being the fine upstanding boy that I am, I won't post it here.

Dealership I worked for found a cure for losing gas. Kept losing it from the same tractor, so we took out almost all the gas and put in water. Still smelled like gas (and probably tasted like gas too), but stopped losing it after the next siphon job.

Think I had some one try to take some from the shed but failed. Dog was going nutts the other night out by the shed. Next morning dog smelled like gas 2 cans were moved and one splilled, shed door open. Dog has been real over protective of the kids since then, sorry to say even bit my cousin when he came to get some sweet corn. Kids she shes fine with just big people. First time she bit some one, I hope she stops, great family, watch and hunting dog. She's a 90+# Chessie
