It must be a location thing, the JD people here couldn't be a more helpfull or giving group ! ! you will find our JD people involved in about every tractor related activity all season long,we pull our show tractors along with our junk ,at any tractor show in the area any of the tractors on display are taken right to the pull,Sure there is the occaisional collector with the really nice JD that he has spent real big money on a paint job. but there are enough other nice tractors that people are allowed to climb over that they don't have to chance messing up the really nice one. Most of the tractor collector's in Western NY of any color would give the shirt off their back to accomadate the general public.

Owning a repair shop for 24 some years now,,i have run across all kinds of flakey, not all in bad way .Engineers ,,,they want to know why part failed, what it's made of , can they fix it ? i have seen some of them take an old style ford module spend a week tearing it apart ,actually fixing it ,when coulda bought one for $20 and been done with it . Covette owners not all of them, come in nose pretty high in the air asking " Can you work on Corvettes ?" I always reply ,,"Yes ,we work on Chevy's here " lol. Then theres the ones that insist on trying the used parts route . "The part you have now is USED , why would you want another ?" Has it up s and downs ,,but all sorts of people for sure .

I had a guy come in back in the late 70's driving a Monte Carlo. It was burning oil, and he ask about an overhaul, and how much it would cost, and how long he would be without a car. I told him that I had a 305 Chevy engine ready, and he could have his car the next day. He told me that he didn't like Chevrolets, and no way in hill would he drive a Monte Carlo with a Chevy engine. And that he couldn't believe I would even try to rip him off like that.

That was me, and I apologize. I was somehow stuck in the age of Aquarius, but after a half dozen vacations to the Betty Ford, I'm feeling much, much, much better these days. I found my Woodstock ticket in my pocket last night. Any of you guys going? I'm driving the Monte if anyone's up for it. Hendrix and Joplin? Man, we are gonna rock.

Mark

Aw, left arm Dude" I can digit. I wondered what happen to you. And I remember Betty Ford, she was the hot lookin honey in that mini skirt wasn't she? Man! you vacationed with her? Left arm Dude! I can imagine how that would make you feel better.
Woodstock in the Monte? That WOULD be a trip wouldn't it, wish I could make it Mark, but I gotta hang here with the ol lady. Besides, Hendrix and Joplin wasn't my favorites anyhow. I was more of a Hank and Lefty fan. Hope the Monte makes the trip, and better yet, I hope you run into Betty.. Good luck on the trip.

We're going too, just as soon as Cheech wakes up from last nights stupor. Look for us, we'll be the dark complected guys driving the "Deadmobile" (VW Van) and wearing bandanas. By the way, we just made a "restocking of essential supplies" trip to Tiajuana yesterday.

I think the flakey people are in any color group. But I have noticed when selling part some times the JD guys do change there minds a lot. I have 2 boxes of parts that guys asked about and then when it came time for them to send money well I never saw the $$ and still have the boxes in the house. Wife sure doesn't like that LOL
