I know it is off topic, but the folks on this forum seem to be experts in many area.

I am looking to build a Go Cart with my two boys. Does anyone have a good set of go cart plans or suggestions for getting started? If this project goes well, our next adventure is to overhaul my Ferguson TO35.

Thanks for any help.

Will

We built one growing up - used the engine and transmission from a buddy's wrecked motorcycle. 360cc's, it really moved - only problem was we had the engine behind the seat and the engine got warm in a hurry - should have added an air scoop.

This site might help. I know that I can't. Go with the fergie. Got a go-cart that sits at home. They love it but don't want to even remind you that you need part for it(maybe when my kids are older?)

I'd put an 8 horse engine on it. I'll bet you'll have over $600 in parts in building a good one. Glenn F.

My suggestion would be do the fergie first, Maybe by then the boys will want a tractor of their own and you can foget the go-cart.

My suggestion would be to start with a good frame with good tires and wheels. These can be had at Auctions or put an ad in your local newspaper.
The cost from that point on is still high but if the project is to teach your sons some mechanical stuff it can be fun. Most parts can be purchased on the net.I see Go-Cart frames quite often at local auctions in good shape go for $25-$50.New 5 hp. engine $200 Paint and the rest can add up quick.I have done two in the past, easy to work on lots of fun. Good Luck C.Davis

Northern Tool - Used to be Northern Hydraulics has lots of parts, plans too I think - They are online, and once you buy from them they send a new catalog every 2 weeks.

I agree, there are a lot of good parts in those catalogs. All the way from blacktop only to offroad carts. Even mini-bike kits.
